While it has been called by many different names, an individual’s response to mold that results in illness is generally known as “mold related illness.” Whether officially diagnosed as CIRS (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome), water-damaged building syndrome, or simply mold allergies the fact that mold presence and illness are linked is well established.
At Mold Inspection Sciences we take mold related illness seriously and were pioneers in developing the CIRS Protocol, tailored specifically for mold investigations related to CIRS patients. We bring the same approach, care, and attention to specific conditions to all of our MRIC investigations whether or not a CIRS diagnosed individual is affected.
Our MRIC Investigation Program
Our MRIC Investigation Program follows our approach developed during many thousands of investigations over more than 20-years.
- A detailed physical inspection of the property to determine areas of concern
- Specialized mold testing to help isolate issues and determine overall contamination
- Testing may include qPCR testing (mold specific qPCR) as well as traditional sampling (Cavity Sampling, Air Sampling, Surface Sampling, and Dust Sampling)
- In specific scenarios we offer bacteria testing for Actinomycetes (qPCR Actino) and testing for Endotoxins (qPCR Endo)
- All samples are analyzed by our accredited laboratory partners Lis Biotech, MycoMetrics, EnviroBiomics, EmLab P&K, and EMSL Analytical
- A detailed inspection report including the findings of the investigation, testing, and recommended remediation steps
- Consultation with a Project Manager to discuss the findings and recommendations
- Ongoing consultation with a Project Manager throughout the remediation process
- A detailed post remediation clearance inspection and testing to ensure that the environment has been returned to normal conditions
- Intermittent follow up testing and/or inspections to determine the general health and condition of the property

In order to maximize the likelihood of a successful remediation project it is essential to ensure proper sequencing of remediation activities and post-remediation testing. The specific order of cleaning and remediation activities aligned with clearance investigations and testing at the appropriate stage as directed by our experienced project managers can help our client’s living and working environments return to a healthy state. The exact order and number of sequences may vary based on the specifics of each project, but we work closely with the remediation contractor to ensure successful completion.

Why Are Some People Affected by Mold Related Illness?
Some people get sicker than others when exposed to water-damaged buildings and mold presence because their bodies process toxins differently.
